Combat Decision Paralysis with Skills That Sell Your Product | LUMP Depot

I was catching up with an old friend the other night. We're both deep in the same soup: agents, skills, and how to make any of it repeatable. I've been building the public side of that with dsoul—a registry where you publish skills like versioned packages, so what the model reads is what you intended, not whatever a link happened to return today.

When the skill knows what exists

We both didn't like the idea that "the model knows everything." When people make requests they need something they can act on: which SKU is on the shelf, which snack exists in your wawa, what a sponsor can point you at that you can order now.

A skill with real inventory behind it is a different animal than a chat that free-associates brands. I'm not declaring the future of marketing. I'm saying it's a more honest shape than pretending the model can access the current state of the world.

A good skill is a ladder.

A model will happily roam Wikipedia, debate sneakers from all eras, or draft a meal plan. That's fine until you need the answer to line up with reality: what's in stock, what the price actually is, what offer you're allowed to mention.

If you ship a product with an API, the public-facing version of this is a showcase skill that teaches the model how to call your API without improvising. If you're a publisher or a brand, it's a skill that resolves decision paralysis by providing a clear path forward for your customers.

If you sell or market a product and that sounds useful, start at dsoul.org: publish a showcase skill, point the model at real catalog or campaign truth, sponsor with something you can stand behind. We're bootstrapping—folks who want the full version-and-CLI story are welcome too—but the front door is a skill that aims people at what's real, not at a hypothetical statistically likely world.

Try a demo

There is a public example on the registry: Which 90s band shirt are you allowed to wear? It is a demo recommendation skill—a branching quiz the agent runs step by step, then it lands you on a specific band and a real follow-up (including merch links on dsoul) instead of stopping at a vibe.
